Illustration for Google on Sridevi Ji's 60th Birthday!
"Her eyes are like two drops of coffee in a cloud of milk", and painting them, I felt like I was seeing the prettiest shade of brown. The artwork is heavy with elements; elements from her movies that she gave life to; she made the thunder roar, the Sarpshirsha mudra hiss, the blue pop, hats seem uber cool, and the laddoos remind you of bittersweet memories. The Os of Google had to be her bangles! "Mere Haathon Mein Nau Nau Churiyan Hain"! She became a woman phenomenon in a man-dominated era and how!
While I was reading about her childhood, I started reading a little history too,
the architecture that depicts and worships women, dance, strength, and art; the folk arts that have traveled bearing echoes of generations of creativity. I read how early in her career she made her presence felt on screen, how hard she worked, how she would carry some of the most difficult makeup and costumes like a stunner.
